RISE in STEM
Resilience, Identity, Self-Efficacy and Empowerment. RISE in STEM is a planned 12-month program for low-income, marginalized and minority women aged 30 and older in New York City. Many capable women leave STEM not for lack of ability but because of doubts about whether they belong. RISE is designed to build that confidence directly.
The pilot cohort of 15 women will receive:
- One-to-one mentoring with a trained STEM professional for a full year
- Bi-weekly, hands-on digital-skills labs
- A small micro-grant to complete a personal STEM project
- Quarterly career-identity workshops
Sessions are planned on-site at community partner organizations, so participants learn in familiar, welcoming spaces. We will measure growth in self-efficacy, sense of belonging, hope and career identity with validated surveys at the start, middle and end of the program.
